Syd Shores

Syd Shores in the epitome of a "Golden Age Great." Schooled by the Pratt Institute of NYC. Apprenticed with Phil Strum, Harry Chessler and Mac Raboy. Went on to work with Jack Kirby at Timely. He even inked Captain America Comics #1! Shortly thereafter, starting in 1942, he fought for the US Army during WWII in France and Germany. In 1946, he picked back up as an artist at Timely, and in the 1950s, formed his own studio with Mort Lawrence and Norman Steinburg. He worked on Golden Age books such as Sub-Mariner, Human Torch, Black Rider and Kid Colt Outlaw. For a second act of his career, he took part in the Marvel Silver Age Renaissance until his untimely heart-related death in 1973.
