British born Lee Elias was a prolific comic book artist whose career spanned from the dawn of the Golden Age, through the Silver Age, and to the twilight of the Bronze Age in the late 1970s. After studies in music and art at both New York City's Cooper Union and the Art Students League, Elias got his start at Fiction House in 1943. Having made contributions at Harvey, DC, Marvel & Warren, as well as newspaper strip syndicates, Elias' many works include Al Cap, Li'l Abner, Captain Wings, Suicide Smith, Black Cat, Terry & the Pirates, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Black Canary and the Rook. In the 1980s, he did painting and illustration, as well as contracts for Argosy and Cosmopolitan. In addition, Elias passed his skills and wisdom on to new generations, teaching at both Burne Hogarth's School of Visual Arts, and the famous Joe Kubert School. Lee Elias was born in 1920, and passed away in 1998.
