John Buscema

John Buscema got his start in comics at the tail end of the 1940s, starting off with a brief stint at Timely, and then working on Roy Rogers (which he loathed). As the comic industry imploded, he got work in advertising for Chaite and Triad Studios. In 1966, Marvel needed to staff up, and Buscema got back in the game. It was there he made history. Having worked on most every comic and character in the Marvel Universe, he is dearly remembered for his 17 issues of the 18 issue Silver Surfer. He also did many memorable issues of Conan. In addition to his work in comics, he also co-authored the book, "How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way" with Stan Lee. Buscema passed on to eternal rest in 2002 due to cancer. John’s brother Sal Buscema is also a well-known Marvel Artist.
